IV Sedation Dentist in Greenwich: Relaxed Under Sedation
Used for longer implant surgery, and for anyone who finds dental treatment stressful. You're deeply relaxed but awake and able to respond, and afterwards most people recall very little.
IV sedation costs £500 a session, with £250 added for each extra 30 minutes.
Who It Helps
Sedation works with local anaesthetic, not in place of it.
When It May Not Be Suitable
Before anything is booked, we'll go through this with you.
How It Works
Conscious sedation, given by our oral surgeon Dr Imran Riaz through a small cannula in your hand or arm, and monitored throughout.
Assessment
We take your medical history and blood pressure, and ask what worries you most. Usually at your consultation.
Before the Day
You can eat something light first. Bring an adult who will wait at the practice and see you home.
During Treatment
We keep a constant watch on your breathing, pulse and oxygen levels. You'll still be able to respond when spoken to.
Afterwards
Rest at home for the day. For 24 hours, avoid driving, alcohol, operating machinery and big decisions.
What It Feels Like
The usual description is a calm, warm, slightly sleepy feeling. The appointment seems to go by fast, and afterwards many recall little or none of it.
You'll hear us and can reply, or follow a simple request such as opening a little wider. Local anaesthetic numbs the area just as it normally would, so there's no pain.
Is it safe? Dental practices across the UK use conscious sedation routinely. Trained staff monitor your breathing, pulse and oxygen levels from start to finish, and like every practice we keep emergency equipment on site.

Treatments Often Done with Sedation
If you're anxious, sedation can support nearly any treatment. These are the most common.
Full-Arch Implants
One long appointment for a whole arch of fixed teeth, and it feels far shorter.
Dental Implants
For single implants or bone grafts, if you'd prefer not to be fully aware.
Implant-Retained Dentures
The implant surgery that will anchor your denture.
Wisdom Teeth
Many people dread having wisdom teeth surgically removed.
Several Treatments at Once
Grouping work into fewer, longer appointments means fewer trips to the Peninsula.
Dental Anxiety
The fillings, crowns or root canal work that nerves have made you put off.
