Yes. Should your teeth need fine-tuning near the end, the additional aligners, known as refinements, are covered by your package, as are Vivera retainers and whitening.

Q: Invisalign or braces: what are the advantages of aligners?

Aligners are close to invisible, they come out for meals and brushing, and their smooth plastic has no brackets to rub your cheeks. They correct most of the problems braces do. For severe bite or jaw issues fixed braces can work better, and aligners only succeed if you wear them for 20 to 22 hours daily. We'll tell you at your assessment which suits you.

Q: Do you offer fixed braces?

Yes. We consider both fixed braces and clear aligners, and recommend whichever suits your teeth and bite. Invisalign works for most adults and is the treatment our Diamond Apex status recognises. If fixed braces would do a better job, for instance where a severe bite problem comes from the jaws, Dr Pei will tell you at consultation instead of pushing aligners past their limits.

Q: How long does Invisalign take?

A straightforward case may need only a few months, while more involved ones usually take 12 to 18. Dr Pei checks your progress every 6 to 8 weeks.

Q: Aligners: how many hours a day should they be in?

Aim for 20 to 22 hours every day. Remove them for meals and for any drink except water, and brush your teeth before you put them back.

Q: Will my result match the 3D simulation exactly?

No. It maps out how your teeth should move, which helps us pick the right package and shows you the probable outcome. Everyone's teeth respond a little differently, and wearing your aligners as instructed matters most. We check how you're getting on at each review.

Q: Do I need retainers afterwards?

Yes. Teeth tend to creep back towards where they started, and wearing retainers, usually overnight, protects your result for years. Every Invisalign package at Peninsula includes Vivera retainers.

Q: Is Invisalign right for everyone?

Aligners can treat most adult straightening, though not all of it. If your bite would be better served another way, Dr Pei will explain at your consultation and talk you through the alternatives.

Q: Do consultations cost anything?

No, they're free. When you book, we ask for a £20 deposit, which we refund once you've attended. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. If you miss the appointment without letting us know, the deposit is kept.

Wearing Your Aligners

You wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat and brush. Every one to two weeks, you move on to a new set.

Vivera retainers are included. Teeth can drift back without them, so most people keep wearing them at night for the long term.
