Second Opinions, Greenwich: Unsure About a Plan, a Quote or Past Work?

A second opinion here is free. Come with your plan, your quote, any X-rays, or simply yourself, and a dentist will give you a plain answer: what they would do, how much it would cost, and whether anything needs doing at all.

It costs nothing; the £40 deposit you pay to book is refunded once you attend. If answering your question needs a CT scan, that's £120. You're free to stay with your own dentist, and there's no obligation either way.

What People Bring Us

Most requests we see fit one of these groups.

A Treatment Plan or Quote

Another practice has proposed implants, veneers, Invisalign or a full arch, and you want to know if the treatment and the price are right.

Been Told You Can't Have Implants

Too little bone, gum disease, diabetes or age are the usual reasons. Several can be planned around, and our own CT scanner shows what's actually there.

Treatment Abroad

Overseas crowns, veneers or implants that hurt, have come loose, or don't look as promised. We examine the work and tell you what can be saved.

Work That Hasn't Settled

Maybe a crown has never felt right, bonding keeps chipping or an implant is sore. It can be a small fix, or it can need a longer discussion.

A Diagnosis You'd Like Checked

You've been told you need root canal treatment, an extraction or gum surgery, and you'd like to be sure before going ahead.

Cosmetic Plans

Veneers are on the table, and you'd like to know if bonding, whitening or Invisalign could get the same result while keeping more of your own tooth.

Worth Bringing

None of it is essential. Each item makes our answer clearer.

Your plan or quote in writing, so the comparison is fair
X-rays, scans or photos you have; you're entitled to copies, and most practices send them when asked
The implant brand or system, where implants are part of it
Any records from a clinic abroad, with its name and details of what was fitted
The names of any medicines you take
Any questions, noted down beforehand

What Happens

1

A Conversation

Tell us what you were told, which parts leave you unsure, and the result you're hoping for.

2

An Examination

We check your teeth, gums and bite, taking photos, X-rays if needed, and a CT scan (£120) when the question involves implants or bone.

3

A Straight Answer

We tell you if we agree with the plan, what we would change and why, and our fee. When the other plan is sound, we'll confirm it.

4

A Written Plan, on Request

Every option with its fee and timeline, for you to take away. You needn't decide on the day, and you're not committed to anything.

How We Give It

An opinion is only worth having if it's candid, so we hold ourselves to a few rules. We never run down another dentist's work to gain a patient; we describe what we find and what we would do. Sometimes the best step is returning to the practice that began your treatment, and we'll tell you. Sometimes it's doing nothing for now, and we'll tell you that as well.

If you do need treatment, whoever gives the opinion is the dentist who would carry it out: Dr Imran Riaz for implants and oral surgery, and Dr Pei Xian Chen for veneers, bonding, Invisalign and root canals. Our price list shows every fee, so you can set it against any quote.
